Choosing which colours to paint your home can be exhilarating, confusing, stimulating and often a personal roller coaster! Sometimes you will have a clear idea what colour you would like to paint on the wall as perhaps you've chosen a theme or have a key item of furniture from which you wish to style the room. On other occasions, you may often be starting with a blank canvas and although the room is your oyster, it can be difficult to know where to start!
Back in August I blogged about 'How to confidence when choosing paint colour for your walls' which I was pleased to see that you loved!
And so I have decided to take things a step further and write regularly on the theme of
'Mood Board Masterclasses'
in order to further explore how we can all introduce colour into our home. Each time, we will be looking at a different colour palette of between 2-5 paint colour choices and provide style ideas on how to decorate and introduce the chosen colour theme into our room interior.
COLOUR PALETTE ONE
LETS START WITH COBALT BLUES & WARM YELLOWS

Two colours which sit very opposite to one and other on the colour wheel but when brought together they can really bounce off each other to create striking results. Just take a look at natures very own examples of this blue and yellow phenomenon. The vibrant feathers of the Macaw or the petals of the iconic pansy or the beautiful peacock.

When you mix a cool colour such as the blue with a warm colour like yellow, then you can really make colours zing off each other.
Considering Your Colours
Within your primary colour choices that you've chosen to work together, you can then start to experiment by introducing a couple of versions, or different shades. For example, bringing in a turquoise with a cobalt blue and a shimmery gold along with the warm yellow.I've chosen a few colours below to work alongside my Cobalt Blue Thistle Velvet Cushion. I've chosen a bold blue paint by Little Greene called 'Smalt 225' seen here as a little tester pot top right, as well as bringing in a gold fabric swatch, 'Sessile' from the fabulous Casamance range (at top of picture frame). Alongside this, I have brought in a few varying fabric swatches from the luxurious Bute Fabrics Clyde, Tiree and Ramshead range.

We've introduced a mix of textures and materials encompassing velvets, linens, wools, wood and glass.
And you could argue that this is a completed mood board of colour. And I think you could be right. But I've decided to mix it up a bit and add a further colour tone for consideration.....in the form of

I've exchanged my Cobalt Blue Thistle cushions and introduced a contrasting but complimenting pink in the form of my Fine Art Pink Thistle Velvet Cushion this time. This really jazzes things up and all of a sudden we have created a mood board with the fuel to design a 'colour popping interior' with the wow factor!
