Last month we spent a few days out of our Edinburgh base to jet set to France and discover the beautiful Luberon region of France. Our main beeline was for the glorious purple lavender fields in which we had the amazing opportunity to photograph our Mairi Helena silk scarves. However, this adventure also gave us the most amazing opportunity to stay in the charming village of Bonnieux, right in the heart of the beautiful Luberon. And it was truly blissful! And it's taken me a while since coming back home to put a finger on why this particular holiday trip felt like one of the most pleasant and wonderful short breaks. Instead of the usual holiday blues when sitting on the plane back home, I travelled back home feeling inspired, uplifted and excited. And it wasn't until this weekend, when I was sitting looking through the photographs from our French holiday with family, that it suddenly triggered with me as to why this happened to be the case.Simply; it was because of the colour. We were surrounded by colour and it was completely motivational. The soft colours of the rolling landscapes with the cheerfully lilac purple lavender fields. The warm colours of the evening light and the spectacular French views in the sunsets. The freshness of the green foliage flourishing against the rustic walls. The pastel pinks of the flower pots and rustic doorways. The earthy tones of the side street walls. A brilliant setting for photographing our silk scarves! The brilliant punches of pinks along the vibrant market streets in Lourmarin. The colourful market displays and interesting shapes. The bold yellow of the sunflower heads dancing in the breeze. The softness of the foliage in the quiet streets of Menerbes. And really, we had initially just come for the lavender fields...and yes there's no denying the purple lavender haze and sweet scents we were completely blown away by! But the colour was everywhere. My camera did not leave my side!Neither did my silk scarves! Of which I really enjoyed flashing their colours against the wonderfully bright countryside. We were spoilt for choice for photography backdrops with such amazing landscapes and we were also spoilt with such an amazing place to stay. If you're looking for a charming French retreat in the beautiful Bonnieux with fabulous food, authentic French interiors and wonderful hosts then I recommend Le Cloys Les Eydins. And so I came away from France with a portfolio of colour, inspiration and drive. And a portfolio of my Mairi Helena silk scarves of course! An amazing escape, amazing company, amazing colour landscapes.I recommend it.XP.S.
