A time to discover the Isles of Harris and Lewis.In my opinion, nothing beats the West of Scotland. It's quietly beautiful, unspoilt and unassuming. Where else would you be able to walk along endless stretches of white beaches and consider 10 people to be 'crowded'. The bold turquoise crystal clear blue seas dominate the rugged coastlines and stretch on as far as the eye can see. Drive the golden roadIf you're a Harris Tweed fanatic like me then a drive along the golden road is a must. Home of the Harris Tweed, the island holds a wonderful local pride in the production of the infamous cloth, an industry which is completely unique to the islands.A drive along the golden road will take you to The Harris Tweed Company at Grosebay, where the tweed is woven by Donald John Mackay MBE of the Luskentyre Harris Tweed Co. It was amazing to see this exclusive tweed first hand, on its home land - and of course an excuse to try on a Harris Tweed jacket or two...

And there's the Clo Mor exhibition further along the Golden Road where you can learn all about the processes of making the cloth. Visit the Calanais StonesTake a trip to the world famous Standing Stones on the Isle of Lewis. Standing for over 4000 years, this is such a majestic display showcasing the power, tenacity and strength of the people who lived there.
