Mairi Helena, spotted: creative uses for my designs

It looks as though summer may finally be here in Scotland, and with it, an excuse to explore the outdoors, feel inspired and get creative! I always find myself beginning a few projects around the home when the weather gets better. I feel inspired and motivated, and it definitely helps when the evenings are lighter! I’m always excited by what my customers are creating and have found some lovely DIY projects using my fabrics and wallpapers. Have a look at some of them below – I hope they inspire you to get creative this summer!

Want to add a splash of colour and detail to any room? We can often oversee the power of blinds and curtains when it comes to the decorating process. Katie has used my Island Botanist fabric to create the most luxurious Roman blind! The blind instantly injects colour into the room, and you can decide how much by simply drawing it up or down.Island Botanist Velvet Fabric; shophere.

Instantly lift your bedroom with a splash of colour. Alison created this lovely seat pad and cushion for this rocking chair using my Big Eric fabric. I love seeing my linen fabrics used on antique furniture as it always creates the perfect blend of traditional and contemporary!

Why not spruce up a once tired ottoman or stool with my fabric? Sarah has used my Summer Thistle fabric to bring light and life to this ottoman, creating an extra burst of colour within the room. Like cushions, ottomans and stools can be a great way to add a pop of colour and bring your sofa or bed to life without having to change too much. I love projects that can instantly transform a room like this!

Another amazing transformation of vintage furniture being up-cycled, using my Island Botanist wallpaper! Sarah has created a beautiful sideboard that acts as a great feature piece for any living room or entrance hall. I love this sideboard’s rustic feel and finish.

Create a feature cabinet and make a statement in your dining room. Gemma gave this cabinet a new lease of life using my Pink Thistle wallpaper from the Scottish Flora collection. This cabinet would be perfect for displaying your favourite cocktail glasses!
