Decorating Your Home with Tartan Accessories
Today I have been gathering images for a 'Highland Theme Interior Project' for a colleague (and also really for my own benefit as well as I just LOVE tartan!) The theme is circling around Scottish Thistles, so we're concentrating on purple hues, a classic touch of tartan as well as taking influences from the Highland landscapes and thinking about ways of bringing the Scottish scenery into the home.I thought I would let you see some pictures from a mood board that we are collecting to help inspire our choice of colour palette and interior decoration. We've started by looking at Scottish landscapes to help us pin point our colour palettes...SCOTTISH LANDSCAPESThe rich purple carpet of heathers against the brilliant blue skies, a perfect complementing colour palette, we just love it!
Here again an alternative striking turquoise blue and emerald green, a wonderful duo...
.....we're now reaching for FABRICS, guided by the colours that we picked out from the influential landscapes, textures and colours........
fo
Garage heather, Skype Grape tartans featuring here from the wonderful ABRAHAM MOON!!! These fabrics feature strongly in my tartan wall art!
Perhaps you may be focusing around a single chair, a sofa or a grand piece of art to jump start your interior styling plans for your new room? This is a brilliant starting point, keep this as a focus and it can become the centre piece of the room. Perhaps it's a dramatic tartan carpet, a bed head or even a few tartan accessories...
Having a theme in mind or an item of furniture as a starting point can help you greatly in going on to further accessorise and pay attention to details. For example, the lampshade stands which resemble stag horns, or some tartan china or lampshade cover. It's all in the details!!!!!
Keep your eyes peeled as we keep you up to date on the next step of our Highland Theme Interior styling project!!!
